Asphalt Plant and Aggregate Mine
The value we provide to our clients begins with the mining and processing of the high-quality aggregates used in our asphalt mixtures and aggregate base materials. The aggregates used for asphalt mixtures are mixed in our plant to meet all local and state specifications.
How Much Asphalt Does the McNamara Contracting Plant Produce?
Our asphalt plant is capable of producing 600 tons of asphalt per hour. That’s enough to cover the Minnesota Vikings football field with two inches of asphalt! In general, we produce between 300,000 and 450,000 tons of asphalt annually.
To create our asphalt, raw land containing aggregates is first secured and mined. When the mineral extraction is complete, we reclaim and restore it, ensuring that it meets all environmental requirements for new use. All three previous McNamara asphalt plant and mine sites have been turned into valuable new properties: two are now schools, and one is a residential development.

Our asphalt plant is located in Rosemount, Minnesota. We are able to fulfill asphalt orders and execute projects throughout the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area.
By operating our own asphalt plant, McNamara Contracting is able to turn projects around quickly and complete them with greater efficiency. Our plant is capable of making three different mixes at the same time, and our silos have enough capacity to store 600 tons of asphalt, allowing us to execute multiple projects at the same time.
In addition, keeping our asphalt production in-house allows us to offer more competitive pricing to our residential and commercial paving clients.
